History of UB.com

Ultimate Bet is considered one of the top online poker card rooms in the online gambling industry. The casino is owned and operated by the Tokwiro Enterprises, ENRG, also otherwise known as Tokwiro.

Ultimate Bet was founded in the year 2001 by a company named Ecxapsa Software. The online gambling site was run successfully much before the Unlawful Internet Gambling Act of United States came into practice. At that time, the parent company was rather active on the stock market and traded on the London Stock Exchange like some of its competitors.

In April 2004, Ecxapsa Software was finally incorporated in British Columbia. The company went public then and was capitalized for $393 million. Ecxapsa entered into a 20 year license agreement with eWorld Holdings Ltd, which was based in Antigua. This move took place in August 2006, after which the Unlawful Internet Gambling Act of United States was enforced. Soon after the Bush administration passed this law, Ecxapsa Software began selling off its assets one by one, liquidating the entire company. Ultimate Bet was then sold off to an independent private company. This is how Tokwiro Enterprises came into possession of one of the top poker rooms on the internet.

Tokwiro is a sole Mohawk proprietorship. The company, rooted in the Mohawk community, is registered in Quebec as a corporate registry. The enterprise is solely owned by Joseph Tokwiro Norton.

Apart from owning and operating Ultimate Bet, Tokwiro also owns and operates Absolute Poker. Both of these online casinos were previously owned and were acquired by the Tokwiro Enterprises in the year 2006. Under the new management and the leadership of Joseph Tokwiro Norton, the two websites rose to figure amongst the top ten online poker card rooms.

Today, Tokwiro has operations both in Costa Rica and Kahnawake, which is a Mohawk territory. The Tokwiro Enterprises have recently also launched operations in Panama. The enterprise supports more than 500 employees and engages actively with their families and communities.

It has been seen that both the websites have been able to make large revenues for the enterprise, over the years. Both the websites are regulated by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission. The commission has broad range of powers upon the licensees.
Even though the early years of the online gambling site were very profitable, in January 2008, the online poker room was surrounded by brewing scandals of unfair means and cheating. A little digging into the company software showed an account which has a high win rate, one which was statistically impossible. The account belonged to a certain NioNio, who had played 14 sessions at Ultimate Bet and won 13 of the rounds.

This discovery led to mass distrust of the site and a much publicized scandal, accusing the online poker room of cheating the players by planting proxy winners. By the end of the year 2008, discussion forums were abuzz with the complaints against the unlawful activities happening at the Ultimate Bet and finally the Kahnawake Gaming Commission had to step in.
To put the scandals behind it, large and expensive marketing efforts were made to remarket and untarnish the image of the gaming room.
